Husband bought collection of glass pony for our daughter. After divorce took them to give his new stepdaughter?
I just don't know what to do, my daughter is very upset, she is only 9 years old. When we were all together, my husband had bought our then 5 year old daughter a beautiful and expensive collection of antique glass pony with semi-precious stones. It was a gesture of apology for failing to spend time with our daughter as he was so busy establishing his new business. Because the miniature pony collection was so expensive and we were still a little bit poor, and also my daughter being so young, I built a showcase for her in her room with little square windows and told her to put each of the 24 toy sized ponies on each slot, and only to admire them from afar. She listened to me, and at age 5, that was a huge accomplishment! Seeing as how other girls her age are generally prone to touching and breaking such things otherwise. I believe that was her first lesson in responsibility and self-control. Those pony collection were her love, pride and joy and I had found her many a times admiring them as she stood in front of the cabinet with glowing eyes. As she grew up, I asked her if she wanted to perhaps play with them, she strongly said "no" and also informed me that she had found the joys of admiring something from afar. Myself as an adult, I just realized what a grownup and responsible characteristics Semi antique she had just displayed. Anytime any of her friends would come to visit, she would immediately take them to her collection of glass pony and show them off proudly without letting them touch it.The time that me and my husband had been spending apart had finally gotten to us and it was him who finally filed for divorce. Merely 3 months after it was finalized, he moved in with one of his employees and I very much suspect that they were having an affair behind my back. That employee also has a daughter the same age as mine. Last weekend on Sunday, my husband came back to the house to pick up some of his things. Because just seeing him in the house packing his things never to come back again was so painful, I took my daughter out to the movies for the rest of the day, only to come back when he had left. When we returned, we found that not only had he taken all his things, but he had also taken all the glass pony collection that his daughter admired so much! I was so furious, and my daughter broken hearted! It was the first major betrayal she had experienced her whole life, and I fear it might have shattered her innocence! How could he do that? Why did he do that? The look on my innocent daughters face, that realization that she no longer views the world in the same innocent eyes as she used to, haunts me! We had no pet, those glass collections were not only her pet, but also her love and joy! When I asked my husband, why he had taken those, he said that our daughter doesn't need them any more and that he was going to give them to his new stepdaughter! I mean, the only reason why he said that his daughter doesn't need them any more is because he had never seen her play with those because she was too busy learning the joys of admiring beautiful things from afar. That doesn't mean that she doesn't like them. I am furious! I cannot stand to see the look of hurt and betrayal in my daughters face! Not only had she lost her father, but she had also lost the token of love that he had presented to her! I have half a mind now to march in his new house and take my daughter's belonging back, and also to tell all his friends what a disappointing father he had really been for I cannot stand to see the look of betrayal on her face! Do you think that by doing such things that he will finally learn how much he betrayed his own daughter? When I first told him how hurt his daughter was, he didn't believe me, he said that I was merely jealous of his new family and that there was no way Ann-Marie (our 9 year old daughter) would miss the ponies as he had never seen her play with them. Here's what i say, maybe if he had spent more time with his daughter, he would've gotten to know the responsible characteristics she displayed! How do I get him to notice the hurt and betrayal that he showed our daughter?
