I could give you the answer, assuming this isn’t some homework assignment. Briefly, one of Godard’s themes in his movies is to make you aware you are watching a movie, not real life. By making the cinematic effects obvious or unexpected, he is trying to break down the ‘trance’ people go into when watching a movie and forget they are watching one.
